Golfsupport.co.uk is owned and managed by PGA Advanced professional John Lines. Johns coaching experience started 20 years ago coaching in America, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Denmark before coming back to the UK to further his career.
For 12 years between 1994 and 2006 john was a dedicated full time Golf coach solely working on game improvement to all levels using the most up to date state of the art coaching methods and equipment. Whilst many golf lessons were to the masses John’s expertise brought many low amateurs and a mass of local Professionals to pick his brains and learn from his knowledge.
At golfsupport we now have 2 further fully qualified PGA professionals and 2 PGA Professionals in Training.
Johns proven methods have been embraced by the Golfsupport team and so consistency and a commitment to an individual’s needs are met whoever you see for a lesson at Golfsupport.
At Golfsupport lessons are taken indoors on a state of the art simulator.

Initially I was reluctant to offer golf lessons on a simulator having never used one before and was concerned that it may not be possible to maintain the high standards that I have built my reputation on. After using the simulator and understanding it I can say that I have seen a tremendous benefit to both my own game and a much faster understanding of the swing from my pupils. The reason for this is quite simple – after each shot the computer records the clubface throughout the swing and shows graphical evidence of what the student has just done, making it much easier to explain the changes required.

Frequently asked questions about golf tuition/coaching
When is the best time to take a golf lesson?
Whilst I would say golf lessons can be taken any time throughout the season, the best time to make changes would be outside of the Golfing season so autumn/winter when you golf is not so important. One thing is for sure with a golf lesson, be prepared to go 1 step backwards before you take the 2 steps forward. A good Professional will of course explain WHY you are going backwards and give a clear explanation of how this change will improve your game.
How many Golf lessons do I need?
Just take a look at the Professionals on tour who have their coaches with them day in day out. These guys are not learning something new all the time but are fine tuning what they already know, which takes me to my Jigsaw analogy. Consider your golf swing like a jigsaw, there are many pieces to it and from time to time a piece may fall out. It is our job as professionals to put these pieces back in place for you as quickly and painlessly as possible. The beauty of a consistent relationship with your coach means that he or she knows your jigsaw pieces inside out and can quickly put that particular piece back in place without re building the entire jigsaw.
How often should I come for a golf lesson?
Many Coaches will keep you coming week after week, not us! This has just one benefit and it is not to you, but the Professionals back pocket. You should discuss with your professional time scales and your intended practice schedule between lessons. It is this amount of practice that determines time scales between lessons. Consider your golf swing like a Jigsaw puzzle – You come for a lesson and learn a piece of the jigsaw, there may be many pieces to adjust or learn– You then go away and work at that piece so that it is second nature and ingrained. If your lessons are too frequent and you have not mastered the first piece of the jigsaw, by giving more pieces all together simply makes it too complicated and you will not see the full picture (end result-better shots)
