Well I for one am a big fan of Rory McIlroy and this week he had an amazing start to the Masters. Not many players can say that they led the Masters on all of the first 3 days and having gone into the last day with a 4 shot lead, the pressure was really on Rory McIlroy to perform. However, what we need to remember is that he is still only 21 years old. A lot of pressure has been put on him in recent years and he has had to live with being called a lot of things, including the next Tiger Woods.
So, going into the last day of the Masters with a lead is never an easy thing for anyone, let alone a 21 year old hoping to win his first major. He did get off to a good start with a perfect tee shot at the 1st but I think you could see from his demeanor that he knew the kind of pressure that he was under.
It was a good experience for him and a learning curve as he himself said on his twitter feed and he will no doubt come out of it stronger. He is such a gracious and likable guy that he always wins over the supporters with his 'boy next door' kind of demeanor and his honest interviews. Compare his interview after the 3rd round with the monosyllabic replies of Tiger Woods and you can see why he is going to gain more and more fans.
