List 1: "Fairways to Heaven: The Greatest Holes in Golf" (Telegraph)
Charles Starmer-Smith published in the Telegraph an article about his selection of golf’s 18 greatest holes.

The selection is unashamedly subjective but criteria include courses that boast masterful designs (the challenge a course poses and how well it sits within the landscape); aesthetics (cliff top drives, undulating contours, unusual locations or coastal views); and the thrill factor of treading the same fairways as Nicklaus, Faldo and Woods. The list includes courses that must be accessible to the average golfer – and not just Ivy Leaguers and millionaires – so  Augusta, Whistling Straits and Loch Lomond are excluded.
