Golf rules include the decisions on the rules of golf. Local rules formed by the committee of golf club, rules governing the shape and size of golf equipment that is the specification on clubs and balls and the rules adopted in competitions.
The general rule of golf is that it consists of playing a ball with a club into the hole by one or more strokes. The game should be played from the teeing ground, which is the starting place for the hole. The front and sides of the tee ground is defined by tee-markers. The player must not put forth influence on ball except if specified by the rules. If the player makes the ball move, then he incurs the penalty of the stroke.
The golf match consists of one side playing against the other side over a fixed round. The round consists of playing the holes in the correct sequence. Usually the number of holes in a round is 18. The golf rules specify that the match is one when one-side holes are greater then the number of holes remaining to be played.
Concession of match has some rules. Generally, a player may concede a match at any time before starting or concluding the match. Similarly, he\she may concede a hole at any time. The player may concede the next stroke of the opponent player at any time. However, once the concession is made, it is not possible to withdraw or decline it.
The Golf rules for ball must be strictly followed. No foreign material can be applied to the ball with the intention to change its characteristics. The ball cannot be used for playing if it is cut, cracked or not in shape. If the player thinks that the ball is unfit to play, then he may lift the ball. However, he needs to declare his intention to the opponent. The playing characteristics of the club must not be purposefully changed.
The player has some responsibilities according to the rules of golf. The player is responsible for knowing the rules. If he breaches any rule, then he can incur a penalty. The player needs to start the game at the prescribed time. In stroke play, he should remain throughout the round in the group. The player may be assisted by a caddie, who can help him for carrying or handling the clubs during play. However, a player is allowed to have only one caddie at a time.
The golf rules admit the player to practice on any day of a match play competition on the course. However, on stroke play, the competitor must not practice on the competition course.
