Newsflash to golf media: Tiger doesn't care about you

Now that Tiger has announced he's going to speak this Friday, many in the golf media are up in arms about how he has chosen to do so. Woods will be reading a prepared statement at PGA Headquarters in front of a few selected media members and it will be broadcast on the Golf Channel. It also will be taking place during the Accenture Match Play Championships currently going on in Arizona. What is wrong with this you ask?

Well, according to Alex Micelli, Tiger is being selfish and gutless. (video from Wei under par). Good luck getting an interview with Tiger in the next 30 years Micelli.

First of all, for the past two months the golf media and the players have been calling for Tiger to speak out publicly and shed some light on what has occurred in the past. He finally decides to do so and then he gets grilled about how and when he does it.

It is true that Tiger is doing this his way where he will be in control of the situation. It is also true that he is sticking it to Accenture, who dropped him from sponsorship a few months ago. But really, what is the big deal? He will talk for 30 minutes and then people can go watch the tournament on television.

"I suppose he wanted to get something back at the sponsors," said Rory McILroy.

I suppose what many media members want, such as Micelli and the idiot Rick Reilly, is for Tiger to be subject to the biggest press conference in world history where he can't leave until he answers ever possible question from every possible interviewer. Maybe he should stand at the podium and cry and apologize to them personally.

Did people really think he would subject himself to a no holds barred press conference with 500 media members asking him question after question? How many women? How could you do this to your wife? How do you feel about losing your sponsors? How could you do this to golf? Blah, blah, blah.

No, Tiger would never do that. Not in a million years. Just because he has had this fall from grace doesn't mean he's going to all of sudden listen to what the media wants him to do.

He is Tiger Woods. The greatest (or 2nd greatest) golfer of all time at 34 years of age. He is a billionaire and has been doing things his own way his entire life. He will never listen to what Joe Schmoe media member wants him to do.
