Steve Stricker wins the Northern Trust Open at Riviera and vaults to #2 in the world rankings ahead of Phil Mickelson. He won 1.152 million and takes the lead in the Fed Ex Cup race. He finished at 16 under par, 14 shots ahead of Mickelson, who finished T45.

"I don't allow that," Stricker said. "We all know who the best player in the world is, and I'll just continue to do what I do, and that's practice hard and work at it and try to improve."
European Tour:
Miguel Angel Jimenez, "The Mechanic" won the Dubai Desert Classic on the third playoff hole over Europe's #1 player, Lee Westwood.
Jimenez, Westwood, Alvaro Quiros, and Thongchai Jaidee were all tied at 11 under heading into the final round Sunday. Jimenez and Westwood both shot even par rounds to make the playoff and Jimenez made a four foot par putt on the third hole to win for the 16th time in his career.
